I just returned from the Southwest Institute at the beginning of this month to investigate this project, with the aim of finding a use for the coke oven gas produced by our company. Overall, it doesn’t seem promising to produce natural gas. In our case, there’s no way to utilize hydrogen, and producing ammonia through it isn’t profitable. Given the current price of methanol, it’s still better to go with methanol, as it offers greater stability and there are more downstream products available. It’s difficult to develop a natural gas industry chain in these conditions. That’s our situation. I don’t know your specific situation! If you have an additional source of CO2, you can also consider adding some CO2 to consume all the H2 through methanation; in this way, almost everything will be converted into natural gas, with no remaining H2.
