Acicular coke is the main material used in the production of high-power and ultra-high-power graphite electrodes. It can be classified into coal-based and oil-based types based on the raw materials used. In China, its development is still in progress; significant progress has been made in coal-based acicular coke since 2007. As for oil-based acicular coke, Jinzhou Petrochemical has been working on its development for many years. I’m wondering what the current status of this development is – does anyone have specific information? I’d appreciate it if you could share it with me!
Shanxi Hongte Coal Chemical Co., Ltd. has already started producing needle coke from coal sources, while the Anshan Thermal Energy Research Institute of China Iron and Steel Corporation is in the trial production phase. There are also some tar processing enterprises that plan to launch needle coke production projects. As for oil processing plants, apart from Jinzhou, are there any others that are developing needle coke production as well?
I hope there is more detailed information, especially on the tower separation equipment

Jinzhou began producing needle coke in 1996. In 2014, there was no company in the whole country capable of producing high-quality needle coke; we also produce oil-based needle coke. The pretreatment process is now in operation, and after that the hydrogenation infrastructure will be set up and the equipment will be installed. Experiments on coking are currently underway
Could you introduce that company? As far as I know, the quality of oil-based coke has not improved, and I’m not sure why progress in needle coke technology is so slow in China
We’re working on it; there will be a result by the end of the year!
Bless us! I hope we can succeed with the test by the end of the year!
Do you conduct experiments using industrial equipment directly? Is it Shandong Yida or Anqing? I wish you success in bringing to market needle coke of quality comparable to that of American oil-based coke as soon as possible
