Yahuah Consulting News: Inner Mongolia HuiNeng’s coal-to-natural gas project approved by the **Development and Reform Commission. 2009-12-18 – Recently, Inner Mongolia HuiNeng’s coal-to-synthetic natural gas (SNG) project was approved by the **Development and Reform Commission, with the approval document numbered Fa Gai Neng Yuan [2009] 3066. This is the **first coal-to-natural gas project invested in by a private enterprise that has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission. It is also the second large-scale coal-to-natural gas project to receive official approval from the commission, following the 4 billion cubic meters per year coal-to-natural gas project in Keshiketeng Banner, Inner Mongolia, operated by Datang.** The total investment in the project is 8.87 billion yuan; it is designed to produce 1.6 billion cubic meters of synthetic natural gas per year. The construction site is located in Yijinholuo Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia. According to statistics from Yaha Consulting, there are around 15 coal-to-synthetic natural gas projects planned in China, some of which have already begun construction. It is estimated that by 2015, China will have a coal-to-natural gas production capacity of 20 billion cubic meters per year, accounting for about 10% of total consumption. Coal-based synthetic natural gas (SNG) is becoming a new focus in China’s coal chemical industry, and the first technical and economic seminar on coal-based synthetic natural gas will be held in Beijing from January 20-21, 2010. There are many companies interested in pursuing coal-to-natural gas projects, so it’s a bit hard to understand why the Development and Reform Commission approved the HuiNeng project. Of course, congratulations are in order anyway.
Was the factory site chosen in that area of Yijinholo Banner? Where does the water source come from? Is it Yellow River water?
The factory is located in Beiniu Chuan, Yiqi; its water source is not from the Yellow River, but rather water obtained through interflow. Several reservoirs have been storing water there for many years.
