To prevent surge, it is necessary to keep the flow rate away from the surge region. During operation of the compressor, when the resistance in the piping system increases, the flow rate decreases accordingly, and it may fall below the allowable value. The task of the anti-surge system is to automatically open the vent valve leading to the atmosphere or the bypass valve that directs flow back to the inlet, when the flow rate drops below a certain safe limit, thereby increasing the flow rate through the air compressor and preventing it from entering the surge zone. Use the lower limit of traffic security as the set value for the regulator. When the flow measurement value is above the specified value, the vent valve closes completely; when the measurement value is below the specified value, the regulator sends a signal to open the vent valve, thereby increasing the flow rate. A proper anti-surge device should be controlled based on two signals: the compressor outlet pressure and flow rate.
