Electric heat tracing is widely used in petrochemical plants, yet there is no clear specification in electrical explosion protection codes. Can electric heat tracing (including resistive heaters) indeed be used for heating gas pipelines?
Among the products offered by electric heating strip manufacturers, there are explosion-proof models. ! It should still be possible
It should be possible; the manufacturer has the relevant information on this, but our company doesn’t use it – we mainly apply it to residue oil and asphalt here
Perhaps you can refer in detail to the following two national standards, which should be sufficient to solve the problem!! GBT 19518.2-2004 IEC 62086-2:2001 – Guidelines for the design, installation, and maintenance of resistive heating elements for electrical equipment used in explosive gas environments; GBT 19518.1-2004 – Electrical equipment used in explosive gas environments: Resistive heating elements – Part 1: General requirements and test methods
Generally, the original components that came with the equipment are used; if improvements are needed, the heating scheme must be determined based on the properties of the materials, and it must be installed in accordance with **safety standards**
It can be used, but it must be an explosion-proof product; for the flammable and explosive gases used in our company, electric heating equipment is employed. As long as it meets your company’s requirements for explosion-proof media, that’s fine! 5# chenl
Sure, the electric heat tracing we use nowadays is for diesel pipelines and fuel oil pipelines; all the equipment used is explosion-proof, of type dIIBT4, and the cables are flame-retardant, so there’s no problem at all.
There is also electric heating inside our equipment, so I think there should be no problem.
There is no problem with wood; use explosion-proof versions, as they are widely used in oil refining and chemical industries……
I really hadn’t noticed this issue before, but we’ve installed electric heating; I’ll take a look when I have time
