Centrifugal pump sealing 1. Sealing ring. Since the liquid at the outlet of the centrifugal pump impeller is under high pressure while it is under low pressure at the inlet, the high-pressure liquid leaks back to the suction side through the gap between the impeller and the pump casing; therefore, a sealing ring is necessary. Its function is to reduce the leakage loss between the impeller and the pump casing ; On the other hand, it can protect the impeller from friction with the pump body. 2. Shaft end seal (abbreviated as shaft seal). There is a gap between the pump’s shaft and the pump casing; to prevent the liquid inside the pump from leaking out, or to prevent air from entering the pump (when the inlet is under vacuum), sealing is necessary.
