There is a sedimentation tank with a diameter of 5.2 meters; the upper cylindrical section is 4 meters high, and the lower conical section is also 4 meters high. The weight of the equipment (including the steel supports) is approximately 9 tons, while its operating weight is around 100 tons. A channel steel support ring is installed below the junction of the conical and cylindrical sections to support the entire equipment. Six supports are evenly distributed beneath this support ring; each support is about 2.8 meters high. It is planned to use steel pipes or H-shaped steel for these supports. Which type is more suitable – steel pipes or H-shaped steel? What size should be chosen? Thank you!
Actually, using concrete is better; steel supports can also be used, but their stability is lower. Which one to use depends on calculations – you need to carry out design calculations and include a larger safety margin, taking corrosion into account as well.

For 100T equipment, the foundation is very important; it needs to be calculated, and an integral foundation is preferred. 4. It is best to use concrete, with columns combined with ring beams in the structure. Stable and durable. 5. If a steel structure is to be used, there should be at least 8 columns, with diagonal braces added between adjacent columns to enhance stability. 6. 8-inch pipes should work for the columns.
