With the development of hydrogenation process technologies, particularly residue hydroprocessing and coal liquefaction processes, the operating conditions of hydrogenation reactors are becoming increasingly high-temperature and high-pressure. The materials currently in use can no longer meet the requirements of ongoing development trends. At the same time, in order to improve economic efficiency, devices are becoming larger in size, which leads to larger equipment as well. If ordinary 2¼Cr-1Mo steel is still used, it will result in thicker device walls, thereby causing significant difficulties in manufacturing and transportation and leading to a substantial increase in overall costs. Therefore, abroad, new types of 2¼Cr-1Mo-¼V steel with higher strength, higher operating temperatures, and better hydrogen resistance have been developed one after another.
