I am currently using steam at 1.6 MPa in my process; which type of trap would be suitable?
A standard float-type steam trap is sufficient for 1.6 MPa.
It is better to use larger disc-type or float-type valves with a pressure of 2.5 MPa; float-type valves should be used for new equipment, while disc-type valves are suitable for older equipment.
Choosing the right steam trap can save a significant amount of steam energy consumption
The most commonly used type of steam trap at present is the free-floating ball type, but it is necessary to choose ones of good manufacturing quality, with balls that are regular in shape and smooth; otherwise, if the ball is allowed to float freely without oil, the steam-trapping capacity will decrease and steam leakage may occur.
To select the appropriate strainer, the best approach is to consult the manufacturer, explain your process conditions in detail, and ask them to help with the selection.
In theory, any of those will work, as long as the pressure rating matches!
