The dignity of life

Around 7 o’clock this morning, I witnessed something truly shocking on the street. I happened to be passing by and saw that heartbreaking scene. There was an old man in tattered clothes, with white hair; his back was slightly hunched, he was holding a walking stick, and carrying an old cloth bag as well as a bowl. In front of him was a middle-aged woman who was selling baked cakes from a stall. The old man must have been suffering from extreme cold and hunger, so he turned to the woman for help. The woman looked unhappy, probably annoyed that the old man was interfering with her business. With a frown, she suddenly threw a baked cake wrapped in plastic at the old man’s feet. A few meters away, there was a dog sitting down. The old man’s dignity was violated; he appeared very angry, shouting words I couldn’t understand, which sounded like cries of heartbreak to me. He raised one foot and kept stepping on that baked cake over and over again. My heart was deeply hurt. Why did this happen? The woman could have simply given the baked cake to the old man—why throw it on the ground? To the old man, it seemed as if she was throwing it at the dog. How could he not be angry? His dignity had been insulted; how could he not feel sad? I personally believe that everyone in this world is equal. No matter whether it’s a beggar or a madman, we shouldn’t look down on anyone or insult them. After all, they are human beings just like us, with dignity. Perhaps they once did something great in their lives, something worthy of admiration. It’s just that their current living conditions might be difficult, requiring greater courage and effort to survive. They deserve our respect and help, not discrimination and insult!!! As those lyrics say, if everyone gives a little love, the world will become a better place. I sincerely hope that those who read this post will, when encountering people in need of help, extend their helping hands and let love fill the world!
Life is equal; it’s just that everyone has different opportunities and social statuses. Respecting others will earn you their respect.
I saw this story on the internet a long time ago. It is impossible for us to consider every thing or item from the perspective of life and dignity, because that is not how reality works. Existence does not necessarily mean rationality! Sometimes we should be willing to set aside our dignity a bit in order to do some practical and meaningful things, so as to regain more dignity for ourselves! It’s the same old saying: sympathy is useless; sympathy and pity cannot bring back dignity! It’s better to teach someone how to fish than to give them fish!
Equality and harmony are necessary for society, but human flaws make absolute equality impossible to achieve. Natural hierarchical divisions and natural struggles at different levels require the social leadership to recognize them and coordinate management accordingly. We are currently in a period of industrial upheaval, which requires everyone with a conscience to work together to get through it.
Those who sell baked cakes are indeed annoying, and old women are equally pitiable and admirable; but the world is cruel. One’s dignity must be earned by oneself through hard work, so that others will respect you.

In this world, there is truth and falsehood, falsehood and truth – it’s very difficult to tell them apart clearly.
This is life. But I believe the people from Sichuan will treat such a person kindly :)

Respecting others is the only way to earn their respect; everyone’s personality is equal, regardless of how much or little material possessions they have. I hope more capable people will extend a helping hand
