Is the back pressure or extraction steam in turbogenerators usually superheated steam these days? Is it still saturated?
Currently, both the back pressure and the steam being extracted are generally at a saturated state. However, it depends on the location where extraction takes place; if extraction occurs at the upstream stage, it should be superheated steam. To supply this steam to the users, temperature and pressure reduction devices are necessary. But the steam that comes out from the back pressure is mostly saturated steam
