I feel like I’m learning very slowly. How can I get up to speed more quickly? Pipes, valves, instrumentation components...
I’m the same as the original poster – I’ve only been here for half a year as of the end of the month. Right now I’m doing some relatively peripheral tasks, such as keeping statistics on valves, preparing various material lists, and getting familiar with the software – it’s still very early in my tenure!
I’m not sure what the author means by ‘slow’ – I remember there were posts on the forum saying that it takes at least three to five years of training to become proficient in pipe work, so there’s no need to rush; it’s important to build a solid foundation first. Most importantly, one must work hard and not be ashamed to ask for help from those who are more experienced. In my opinion, working on projects is actually the fastest way to learn*, so cherish it.

When there’s nothing else to do, one can visit other factories that have already completed their projects to see how their pipelines are arranged and whether they are of good quality. After all, pipelines that have been built through practical experience are generally reasonable in design, and this can help identify what is sound and what needs improvement. But such things should not be said out loud – just keep them to oneself; In this way, you can only gain on-the-job experience; at the same time, you need to study various standards and piping manuals – if possible, those in foreign languages. You must be determined and not afraid of hard work. It’s tough to work hard when you’re young, but if you continue to do so as an older person, it will harm your health!
Starting with the first project was completely confusing; after completing a project, I sometimes didn’t know what to do next.
