I’ve seen quite a number of chemical products, ranging from benzene hydrogenation, to methanol, to the engineering plastic POM, to ethylene glycol, and then to coal tar hydrogenation. I’ve seen many chemical engineering projects, and it seems that the good ones are all exaggerated – there are too many tricks involved in them. Many things are rather abstract, and technology is also a problem. There shouldn’t be any technical issues; in China, people flock to it in large numbers. It’s really hard to see any new highlights in the chemical industry; so is it just a matter of waiting for government intervention and market regulation? What are your valuable opinions, sir? Or should we consider that those products are on the rise and await us to discover them together?
This issue is too broad (or too complex) – a new product must take into account both technical and economic feasibility, as well as societal needs. Moreover, even mature technologies need to be continuously improved; otherwise they will be phased out. Given the significant gap in our technical capabilities, it is unlikely that a technological monopoly will arise; as a result, other forms of monopoly have emerged. Monopoly is the best way to ensure profits.
2# sunray619 makes a very good point. But it’s not limited to new products; even existing products are fine as long as they generate high profits. I’m not sure now whether it’s because I entered this industry at the wrong time or because there are issues with my analysis. How can one tell which products are not profitable? Also, I’m interested in the monopolies other than those related to technology that you mentioned – are there any specific ones in mind? In today’s society, unless there are **mandatory regulations**, it is extremely difficult and impractical to try to prevent other competitors from entering a particular field. In China, many projects in this area focus on coal-based chemical manufacturing, but such processes are energy-intensive and cause significant pollution. The policy direction is also unclear. The production of polysilicon is also chaotic; there is no core technology involved, and everything is under foreign monopoly, which results in very low profits for local companies. I work in the coal chemical industry, but when looking for a job, I found that no one needed someone like me who does research and experiments. The research institute either doesn’t hire anyone or hires very few, and with everything being handled internally, it’s difficult to get into the field. It’s sad; I worked at an investment company for a year without finding any suitable chemical industry investment projects. It’s a disaster..
