I went to work at a company today; the work involves the production of hydrogen using water and gas, as well as catalytic hydrogenation. My supervisor asked me to learn about the entire manufacturing process of the plant – I need to spend one month in each workshop (there are four or five such workshops in total), with one of them dedicated to hydrogen production. I need to master the processes involved in hydrogen production within that month, including knowing the head pressure of each pump, the power of the motors, the air volume delivered by the blowers, etc. I also need to understand how to start and stop these systems urgently. Could anyone give me some advice on how to gain a deeper understanding of these industrial equipment? I’m really desperate!
Go to a workshop, first understand the principles, write down the process, and then learn how to start and stop the operation. Take your time; it’s useless to rush.
Learn one workshop per month; it’s good enough if you can grasp the processes, principles, and equipment layout. Learning how to start and stop the operations isn’t easy – even if you memorize all the procedures, no one will believe that you’re capable of operating the equipment. It seems that your educational level is too high; staying in the workshop for too long might lead to too many thoughts, so you’re given only one month there. In the future, you’ll still need to focus on professional skills.
Start from reality, integrate theory with practice, be active in doing things and thinking critically; hard work pays off for those who are determined.

It seems that the manager intends to develop you; I think you should study hard, ask lots of questions, and think critically. However, I believe that this pace is meant to develop managers, and it may not necessarily lead to the creation of good operators. A good operator needs to know not only what to do, but also why to do it, as well as how to do it!
It’s best for you to memorize it first; that’s what I used to do in my job – memorize it first and then gradually understand it.
Carry a small notebook with you at all times; read more, take notes, ask questions. When you have free time, familiarize yourself with the operating procedures for various positions
Thank you all. There are still some things that require time to memorize. These days I learn in the workshop during the day, and then go home at night to review what I’ve learned; sometimes I even have to work late into the night. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this way
A month in a workshop is quite a long time; for things like circulating water or desalinated water, three to five days is sufficient. But what about chemical processing? It’s the same, unless you’ve never done it before! However, the management values you highly; you’re either a technical specialist or a production scheduler. It’s also important to know exactly what you want to do, so that appropriate ideas can be generated!
