Since the 11th Five-Year Plan period, significant achievements have been made in the key scientific and technological research projects under the initiatives related to efficient, safe, and clean coal production as well as coal chemical industry development in Anhui Province. These efforts have resolved a range of critical technical challenges, including the efficient and clean utilization of coal with high ash fusion points and the production of olefin products through non-petroleum routes, thereby providing important scientific and technological support for the development of coal chemical industries in Anhui Province. With the strong support of the provincial and municipal science and technology departments, companies such as Anhui Huaihua Group and Zhongke Synthetic Oil Huainan Catalyst Co., Ltd. have fully implemented a strategy of developing their businesses through science and technology. Significant achievements have been made in various research projects related to coal chemical technology, including direct gasification of high-ash, high-melting-point coal in Anhui Province, production of propylene via fluidized-bed methanol synthesis, investigation into the suitability of coal from the Lianghuai mining area for gasification in fluidized-bed reactors, and the development of catalysts with an annual production capacity of 1,500 tons. Coal gasification is a key technology in the upstream of the chemical industry. Anhui Province is a major coal-producing region, but the technology for direct gasification of coal with high ash fusion points has long been a bottleneck restricting the development of coal chemistry in our province. This technological breakthrough has opened up a new technical pathway for the efficient and clean utilization of high ash fusion point coal, which accounts for 50% of China’s total coal output. Propylene is a basic chemical raw material, and the production of propylene from methanol represents an important technological approach to replacing petroleum and diversifying the raw materials used for propylene production. The \"Fluidized Bed Methanol to Propylene (FMTP) industrial technology\" was developed jointly by Anhui Huahua Group, Sinopec Corporation, Tsinghua University and other institutions. The entire development process took three years. This technology, which was developed independently in China with full intellectual property rights and represents an advanced level in the field of coal chemical engineering, is of great significance for the efficient and clean utilization of coal resources, overcoming China’s resource constraints, and promoting the adjustment of the energy structure.
