It is said that there are fixed-bed, fluidized-bed, slurry-bed, etc.; it depends on your reaction pathway, whether it is a gas-phase method or a liquid-phase method, etc. Currently, fluidized beds are the mainstream, but slurry beds have prominent advantages: they are simple, operate at lower temperatures, and involve fewer side reactions.
