KV is a switch valve, while HV is a manually adjustable valve.
HV– is a manually adjustable valve, which allows for the adjustment of the valve’s opening degree, without the need to connect it in series with flow, temperature, pressure, etc. XV– is a two-position valve, meaning it can only be in the fully open or fully closed position; its opening degree cannot be adjusted. UV– is a multi-variable control valve that acts as an intermediate point for integrating various instrument signals; it is commonly used in process interlocks or SIS systems. SV– generally refers to safety valves or on/off valves (shut-off valves)
