Is there anyone who does design work in pressure vessel manufacturing plants? I’ve been working at such a factory for almost a year now, and there’s hardly any work to do on a daily basis. The managers, on the other hand, are extremely busy every day. I offered to take on more work, but they just said that I should get familiar with the company’s standards – it’s been a year already, and it’s not feasible to stay idle like this all the time. A few experienced graduates who came before me left for the same reason. I’m a graduate who has just finished school; what should I do in the face of this kind of exclusion?
I am very familiar with LZ’s situation. First of all, you need to be well-versed in the standards for various containers, such as 20592-635, 4700-4707, and so on. When it comes to design, start by drawing diagrams; it’s actually quite simple. You can use the provided diagrams as a basis, add some elements to them, and then adjust the calculation parameters. LZ should provide the detailed drawings, right? If it’s basic data, an understanding of the manufacturing process is required; however, it’s unlikely to be used in the initial design phase.

Also, go to the workshop regularly to observe the actual manufacturing and assembly processes. Once the right opportunity arises, you can leave the company and look for a better one. It’s just my personal opinion!
