The production of chlor-alkali processes relies on water treatment, including the production of pure water and the treatment of wastewater. In the case of the mixed-bed reactors used for pure water production, acid and alkali regeneration causes severe corrosion of the pipe clamps at the intermediate drain pipes, which in turn leads to the peeling off of the rubber lining on these reactors. How can this be repaired? Also, what metal materials can resist acid and alkali corrosion and be used to make pipe clamps? # hcbbs
There is only one way to deal with the peeling of the lining in a mixed-bed: remove it entirely and re-liner it completely. All other techniques of pasting and patching are nothing but ways of covering up mistakes. Using metal materials for pipe clamps? Well, Hastelloy C might be a good option, but is it worth it?
Metal material 316, which is resistant to acids and alkalis in mixed-bed systems, will do. As for repairing the peeled rubber lining, using polymer materials for local repairs can meet the operational requirements; there is no need to remove the entire area that is damaged, as this would be costly and labor-intensive.
