Which is heavier, catalytic feedstock oil or reprocessed oil, and which has better quality? The density of the crude oil is 0.9185 with a residue value of 5.46; the density of the reprocessed oil is 0.9612 with a residue value of 2.16
Of course, it’s the crude oil. When considering oil used as a raw material, one cannot rely solely on these two analytical indicators. There are also many other indicators such as composition. Although the crude oil provided by the poster has a higher density, it has a wide boiling range, which allows for the production of a wide variety of products through reactions. Although reprocessed oil has a lower density, the portion of it that can participate in reactions is much smaller than that of the crude oil.
Reprocessed oil is of course not as good as crude oil
Compared to reprocessed oil, crude oil is of course better. But based on the two indicators provided by the poster, this oil isn’t that good!
Test the boiling point range, viscosity, and impurities (mainly sulfur and salts); generally, the better the crude oil, the wider the lowest boiling point range should be.
