There are numerous yellow particles on the finned tubes in the fourth air preheating section of the converter; I’m not sure if they are sulfur As shown in the diagram, the flue gas temperature at the furnace outlet is around 197 degrees
It should be ferric sulfate; it can be taken off and analyzed briefly – the identification isn’t very complicated
Anyway, our old furnace looked the same when it was taken apart.
We have conducted tests, and the scaling in the air preheater is mainly a mixture of ferrous sulfate, ferric sulfate, and silicates. The scale at the inlet and outlet of the air preheater was ground into powder, mixed with deionized water, and the pH of the aqueous solutions of these powders at the outlet was measured to be 3.21 and 3.07 respectively, indicating an acidic nature in both cases.
It should be a mixture of ferrous sulfate, ferric sulfate, and silicates; it can be analyzed.
Such deposits can severely affect the heat exchange efficiency. What measures should be taken? Is it just a simple cleanup? This is also just a temporary solution, not a permanent one! I was wondering if anyone has any good suggestions?
Using desulfurized fuel, controlling oxygen content, and increasing the temperature of the preheated air entering the furnace should help, right?
