I recently started working in storage and transportation, and while examining the processes, I realized that a well-designed process, with attention to the details, can help pipeline workers save a lot of effort. For example, in the following areas: 1. Requirements regarding the installation location and display height of instruments; 2. Pipeline layout planning in the pipe gallery area ; 3. Requirements for equipment ; 4. Other details, such as the layout of the heat tracing wires, have also been arranged. With these, many can be used straight away without the need for re-planning or rearrangement.
That’s why the process engineering field is very important; with a good set of process flow diagrams, it’s also easier to carry out piping work.

Apart from the process, layout is actually more important. All processes exist merely to serve production. The process for the tank area here is correct; it could have been arranged north-south, but an east-west layout was chosen instead. It is not conducive to production inspections at all. For the pipelines and valves in the middle of all the storage tanks, people cannot pass through; one can only get by stepping on the pipelines! Such a process is reasonable, but the layout is unreasonable, which is extremely detrimental to production! Such designers are only suitable for working in isolation and failing when they go out into the real world!
When planning the layout, the production inspection passages are also taken into consideration; for the upper floors, simply adding a bridge will suffice.
PID diagrams are of little use in construction; nowadays, detailed piping installation drawings are provided during the design phase, showing exactly where instruments, valves, elbows, etc. should be installed. An experienced welder can estimate the number of welds required based on factors such as the diameter and length of the pipes
During detailed design, the positions of equipment and pipelines in the general flowchart are usually in line with the piping layout.

I always feel that there is no end to learning, but I believe that mastering everything thoroughly makes things easier to handle.
