The import and export of the tanks in our tank farm range from DN200 to DN350, all using metal hoses. However, for a chemical project in Shandong we worked on two years ago, we designed and used metal hoses, but the owner did not use them because they were too expensive. I think for the designer (conservatively) it is necessary to use metal hoses, and there must be foundation settlement of the storage tanks (we have four storage tanks in one unit in a tank farm, and only one tank has foundation settlement, and it is quite large 300mm). I suggest that the poster be more conservative.
The specification requires that metal hoses be added to the inlet and outlet of the storage tank, and the design must be done in accordance with the specification.

personal opinion: There are two types of flexible connections: 1. Metal hose 2. Adjustable brackets. Whether metal hoses are needed can be determined based on the foundation. If the piling foundation or a small storage tank does not necessarily require metal hoses, adjustable brackets can be considered.
