Hello everyone. I’ve been looking at some drawings recently and noticed that the connections for pneumatic valves are smaller than the corresponding pipes. In other words, two adapters of larger size are needed when connecting to the pneumatic valve. Why is this? Please help me figure it out. Thank you

I think it’s mainly to increase the flow rate, so that the valve can be controlled more effectively and its sensitivity can be improved.
The main goal is to keep the fluctuations in air pressure as small as possible, so that the adjustment can take place in a as stable a manner as possible.
It is also possible that there are no valves of the same size as the pipe, and only larger tees can be used for connection.
I think there might be the following considerations: 1. If the interface of the control valve is too large, it will cause the operating point of the control valve to be lower, resulting in it operating at a low opening degree frequently, which is very detrimental to the control valve; 2. A smaller pipe diameter also increases the control precision of the control valve ; 3. Valves with smaller diameters are generally cheaper. But this isn’t absolute either; some don’t change in diameter!
