No need! Expansion joints are typically used in sections of general utility systems. However, for pipes under high pressure, even in pumps used in utility systems, flexible connections cannot be used, nor can expansion joints be installed! For example, small fire pumps can use expansion joints for a flexible connection, but large fire pumps can only use rigid connections!

In my opinion, the key factors are the temperature differences in the medium and the stability of the foundation; this is done to protect the centrifugal pump. Moreover, I believe it’s not an expansion joint but rather a flexible rubber connection.
It mainly depends on the stress at the inlet and outlet of the pump; I have only applied it to hot oil pumps, and I don’t remember having used it in any projects involving normal-temperature fluids.

Few have expansion joints installed. Generally, the force on the pump inlet is naturally compensated by the pipeline alignment.
