The expansion tank for the heat transfer oil is located at the highest point of the system. Should the inlet and outlet pipes below the expansion tank be arranged vertically in terms of process design?
It should have a sloped design; it cannot be vertical, otherwise heat circulation will occur between the gas pipe and the liquid replenishment pipe of the gas-liquid separator, resulting in heat loss!

Originally, a gas-liquid separator was included in the design, but it was later removed. Instead, two DN80 pipes are connected directly to the pump’s inlet lines beneath the expansion tank, and one of these pipes is used as the expansion tube. Please help resolve this issue; I don’t understand it

The connection at the bottom of the heat transfer oil reservoir’s expansion tank requires that there be an angle of more than 120 degrees from the oil return pipe to the bottom of the expansion tank; this helps with the separation of oil and gas, and prevents convection circulation of the heat transfer oil within the system and in the reservoir, thereby extending the lifespan of the heat transfer oil.
