When protecting cables, protective tubes are used, which can be either metal or plastic. What is the difference between the two? Are there any mandatory requirements in the regulations?
Under normal conditions, water-gas pipes, that is, galvanized pipes, are used; in corrosive environments, plastic pipes are employed

There are standards: generally, galvanized pipes are used in explosion-proof areas, with the joints shaped to prevent damage to the cables. In non-explosion-proof areas where no heavy objects pass by, PVC plastic pipes can be used.
Design institutes generally consider using galvanized pipes, but nowadays rigid PVC can also be used in applications requiring higher strength.
