Could the experts help solve this? (Thank you) Are openings allowed in the welds of pressure vessels? If allowed, how should it be requested?
It is generally not allowed; if absolutely necessary, contact the design institute
Punching holes is not advisable. If drilling must be carried out, an internal inspection must be conducted within a range 1.5 times larger than the hole size.
Our national standards state that it should not be operated, while ASME says it can be operated. But why is it installed on the weld?
Note that it is only not advisable; what is needed is to increase RT testing of all welds, and it is not prohibited. Terms such as cross-welds are also used to indicate that it is not advisable.
1# Cold night rain: Holes can be made in the welds of pressure vessels. The welds near the opening area must be subjected to radiographic inspection.
If it must be welded on a weld seam, then non-destructive testing of the weld seam shall be carried out in accordance with GB150 requirements.
It should be kept as far away as possible during formatting. If that doesn’t work, use standard flaw detection.
There is no prohibition on making holes in welds. Of course, if holes are to be made in the welds, there are many additional requirements, such as an increased proportion of flaw inspections.
100% radiographic inspection at the opening
Try to avoid making openings in the welds; this is generally achievable. It occurs in very rare cases, so it is necessary to add non-destructive testing measures.
