For coal-fired boilers with a capacity of less than 10 tons, what is a reasonable surface temperature for the grate when the chain grate boiler is operating at full load? What are the effects of it being too high or too low?
The surface temperature of the grate is generally above 800°C, and can reach up to 1000°C. The temperature in the coke reduction zone is as high as (~1200°C). If the grate temperature is too high, it can damage the grate; therefore, the air supply temperature must not be too high to ensure proper cooling of the grate. Too low indicates that the furnace temperature is too low, resulting in poor fuel combustion. However, the grate temperature is generally not used as a basis for judging combustion. Personally, I don’t see any practical use for it; neither the design nor the operation takes this data into account.
Can excessively high grate temperatures measured affect the lifespan of the grate? The wind temperature is not taken into account.
Excessively high temperatures can burn out the grate bars. Coal slag with strong caking tendency sticks to the grates, or poor heating, ventilation, and cooling of the grates cause the grate bars to become brittle and break. 3# jobgy

The furnace surface temperature mentioned above refers to the temperature at a certain position of the furnace grates within the furnace
Depending on the coal quality, bituminous coal generally requires around 900°C, while anthracite usually requires over 1000°C.
