This is the first time our sulfur plant is being put into operation; it might start operating in the next few days. I would like to ask everyone: what are the precautions to take when starting up in winter? Where does special attention need to be paid?
1. The most important factor for starting up the sulfur plant is heat; in winter, the plant’s load needs to be higher than in summer. Otherwise, insufficient heat will cause the liquid sulfur in the pipeline to condense. 2. The issue of preventing freezing should be given priority. 3. When starting work in winter, it is avoidable to start and stop repeatedly; preparations must be made to ensure success on the first attempt.
Ensure that the pressure at 0.3 MPa is normal, as well as the heating, drainage systems, the converter, and the pressures and temperatures at the inlet and outlet. Set the temperature rise curve, ensure even air distribution, and keep the ratio analyzer in normal operation. Observe the flame through the fire viewing hole.
1. Ensure the liquid level in the acidic gas separation tank is accurate, to prevent double-flange failure due to low temperatures and water accumulation in the furnace; 2. To prevent accidents caused by poor quality of steam in winter or the presence of oil in it; also to avoid cross-contamination of fluids resulting from forgetting to close the purging valves after purging the pipelines in upstream units during winter ; 3. Ensure that the insulation of each liquid level panel is in good condition to prevent freezing and cracking due to blockages ; 4. A small amount of each type of steam, water, and unpurified air should be vented to prevent problems arising from freezing and subsequent inability to use them promptly ;
It’s very difficult; the main concern is the risk of blockages in the liquid sulfur pipelines. I’m worried that the heat tracing might not be done properly; if the heat tracing is inadequate in some areas, it could cause blockages in the pipelines, which would be problematic.
Our equipment is also being prepared for operation; come and learn* from it.
1. Prevent freezing of instruments, control valves, flow meters, and pressure gauges. 2. The bypass valve can be slightly opened. 3. Heat tracing to prevent freezing of the drain valve. 4. Prevention of freezing in the standby pump. 5. Slightly open the nitrogen lines and instrument air lines for drainage.
The proper use of the liquid sulfur jacket ensures proper sulfurization and water drainage.
It is mainly for anti-freezing, to ensure the unobstructed flow of all heat tracing pipelines.
Special attention should be paid to regularly checking the heating system of the liquid sulfur pump; even the slightest oversight can make it difficult to start the pump.
The same as the requirements for commissioning chemical plants. I. Conduct a thorough inspection of the installation completion status. II. Take proper protective measures, as this system is toxic and harmful. III. Inspection of raw materials and auxiliary materials, inspection of pumps, etc.; IV. Anti-freezing measures (geographical location).
