For the methanization process later on, Datang in China was the first to introduce foreign technology, and there is still very little technical documentation available!

There is a lot of coal-to-gas production in Inner Mongolia these days; there’s even a need for demonstration projects.

Currently, methanation technologies are all imported from abroad; due to issues related to technical confidentiality, confidentiality agreements are generally signed! PID diagrams will not be made public in recent years! It’s very difficult for people who are not internal staff to obtain the blueprints; anyone who leaks them is committing a breach of confidentiality and will have to pay a heavy fine! Hehe

Tang Dynasty’s coal-to-natural gas production uses the Lurgi furnace technology, which has been in use abroad for several years; it cannot be considered an advanced gasification technique. In comparison, it’s practically the best option available when it comes to producing natural gas. The components of other gasification technology synthesizers are mainly CO+H2, while the Lurgi furnace contains a higher proportion of methane, making its process design simpler. Nevertheless, Tangda’s project includes a substantial methanol production capacity as part of the overall setup. On the one hand, this is an objective technical requirement – without it, the project cannot proceed. On the other hand, it is necessary for balancing the system’s operations, to prevent disruptions in the delivery of gases; since the system cannot be shut down, methanol production is required to maintain the stable operation of the facility.
