According to the China Work Safety Network, the draft amendments to the Jiangsu Province Work Safety Regulations came into effect on June 1, 2009. The new Regulations on Work Safety in Jiangsu Province introduce new provisions regarding supervision and inspection of occupational safety and health, regulatory responsibilities, as well as accident reporting and investigation. 1. Add a paragraph as the third paragraph to Article 20: “Departments responsible for work safety supervision and management shall, in accordance with their designated duties, conduct inspections and supervision on occupational health conditions in the workplaces of production and business operations, and investigate and deal with occupational hazard incidents as well as acts that violate laws and regulations regarding the prevention and control of occupational diseases.” ” II. Merge Paragraphs 2 and 3 of Article 44 to form Paragraph 3 of Article 31: “The relevant departments shall regularly analyze the occurrence of casualty accidents and report to the work safety supervision and management departments at the same level on a monthly basis.” The work safety supervision and management department shall regularly compile statistical analyses of injury and death accidents that occur within its administrative jurisdiction, and promptly report to the corresponding **** at the same level as well as to the higher-level work safety supervision and management departments. ” III. Delete Articles 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, and Paragraph 1 of Article 44 of Chapter IV, \"Investigation and Handling of Accidents\". IV. Add a new article as Article 46: “The reporting, investigation, and handling of production safety accidents shall be carried out in accordance with the Provisions of the State Council on the Reporting, Investigation, and Handling of Production Safety Accidents.” ”
