I don’t think it will cause corrosion to the glass
I’m not sure if it will happen, but in any case, all the pressure gauge connections at the sampling ports of the diaphragm tank I use are made of glass tubes, and I’ve seen no signs of corrosion there. The sight glass treated with chlorohydrogen is also made of glass, and no corrosion was observed. The sight glasses for the positive and negative water seals on the ion exchange membrane side are also made of glass, and they show no signs of corrosion.
We also use glass sight glasses with wet chlorine, and there has never been any sign of corrosion; moreover, we have not heard of wet chlorine causing corrosion to glass.
Ordinary glass is primarily composed of silicon dioxide and some silicates, and it is hardly corroded
Silicon in glass is already in its highest oxidation state, so it cannot be oxidized by chlorine, sodium hypochlorite, etc.; therefore, no reaction occurs.
I only know that for equipment involving wet chlorine gas, fiberglass reinforced PVC is generally used as a lining.
The visual indication of the chlorine scrubber tower is that the glass shows no signs of corrosion.
