The surface of the boiler chimney is covered with a layer of yellow substance; some say it’s sulfur. Is this harmful to the chimney? Could any marine enthusiast give some advice? Waiting online!!!!
Boiler chimneys are made of steel, which can lead to acid corrosion.
For typical low-temperature corrosion, the flue gas temperature should be kept away from the 130–140 degree range. The consequence of corrosion is a decrease in the mechanical strength of the flue, so closer monitoring is necessary; if corrosion exceeds acceptable levels, the component must be replaced promptly.

If so, it is likely not sulfur, but sulfates or other salts precipitated from the humid smoke. Is it harmful? If bricks (or cement) are soaked for too long, they will delaminate. Do an exhaust gas test first, and then analyze the cause. Didn’t you consider the quality of the coal and desulfurization when you worked on the boiler? It is recommended to analyze the circulating water in your water film dust removal system; if that’s not possible, replace the water, as saturation can easily lead to salt precipitation. Also, pay attention to monitoring the boiler’s operating parameters, with a focus on the furnace negative pressure (high pressure leads to heavy water content in the exhaust gases) ; Flue gas temperature (corrosion of steel flues and fans) and exhaust oxygen content (high oxygen levels result in poor thermal efficiency and facilitate the formation of sulfates).
