Hydrogen is a flammable and explosive gas; so what kind of valves should be used on the pipelines, and what should be used as the valve packing?
Our company mainly uses butterfly valves made of 304 material
We use gate valves, globe valves, or ball valves, made of carbon steel.
Globe valves or stop valves are generally used, with graphite seals for the valve packing. Ball valves can also be used. But be slower when turning it on and off to avoid static electricity caused by too rapid instantaneous flow.
The valves should be globe valves or ball valves; the valve packing should be made of polytetrafluoroethylene – other types of packing will not work
