Currently, there are numerous liquefied natural gas projects under development in China, and the MRC process is becoming the standard. Could everyone tell me which facilities in China use this process and how they are performing at present?
MRC...Mixed Refrigerant Cycle, a liquefied gas process using a mixed refrigerant cycle. It involves recovering gases such as natural gas from remote areas, residual gas from old oil and gas fields, and coalbed methane, and liquefying them on-site to reduce storage costs and facilitate transportation. It is a process technology that transforms waste into value, embodying the principles of a circular economy, and it is attracting increasing attention and adoption by more and more enterprises. Such as: China Gas, Xinjiang Guanghui, Panjiang Coal Industry, and so on.
LNG projects generally refer to LNG receiving station projects; the ones mentioned above should be called “natural gas liquefaction projects”.
Liquefied natural gas is easy to transport by road, can compensate for the shortcomings of pipeline transportation, and has great potential for development.
There are already more than a dozen domestic projects using MRC mixed refrigerant cycles for liquefying gases, such as those in Yigao in Jincheng, Shanxi, Guanghui in Xinjiang, Ordos, and Dengkou in Xinjiang.

Recently, CNPC has built three large-scale LNG projects in Dalian, Tangshan, and Nantong in Jiangsu. The first phase of the LNG project in Dalian has an capacity of 3 million tons per year, while the second phase will have a capacity of 6 million tons per year; it is planned to be completed and put into operation by early next year.
Actually, this is a very meaningful topic; no one has paid attention to it for a long time. Hehe, I guess I’ll have to bring it up myself.
Reply to 7# Clauspolunit: All three of the sites you mentioned are receiving stations, and they are not involved in the MRC process.
Reply to 9# sjyygh: In Ordos and Karamay in Xinjiang, Xinhua Jieke, many places use the MRC process. MRC primarily uses methane, propane, ethylene, n-pentane, isopentane, etc. as refrigerants; depending on the gas composition and production volume, mixed refrigerants in various proportions are employed to liquefy natural gas. The adoption of the MRC process should be determined based on production volume. Different liquefaction processes can be used depending on the yield.
For Star Energy and Huayou Dengkou, I only know that these two LNG projects use MRC.
