The places where sealant can be used are nothing but various sealing surfaces. Although the original poster didn’t specify the exact location, I guess it’s somewhere like the end cap or similar. The so-called sealant actually cannot provide complete sealing; it is merely an auxiliary to gaskets. In fact, if the gasket material is chosen appropriately and the sealing surface is free of defects, using sealant is unnecessary; it’s merely done to provide a sense of comfort. But if the above two factors are not favorable, it will still have an effect when used. Additionally, on sealing surfaces without gaskets, such as those in the bearing housings of some centrifugal compressors, sealant is also used to prevent air from entering. There are also some static equipment; sealant is used when certain quick-setting pads are employed. By the way, dots are sometimes also used on O-rings (in the case of static sealing). In short, sealant is used in conjunction with gaskets (O-rings) and only serves a supplementary role. There is no mandatory requirement. Usage: Wipe the sealing surface clean and wash your hands. It can be applied with your hands, or simply squeezed evenly onto the sealed surface; no specific requirements are needed – as long as there are no impurities.

It depends on the location; for areas prone to oil leakage such as the crankcase, sealant works well, and that’s what we have been using. Other parts such as intake and exhaust valves should not be used, as these parts require high-level sealing performance; it is crucial to select the appropriate gasket based on the pressure.
Reciprocating compressors are basically sealed with gaskets; strictly speaking, sealant should not be used. New gaskets all have a degree of compressibility, allowing them to seal on their own ; And the old gasket has already been pressed in; continuing to use it relies only on sealant!
