Hello everyone, recently one of our sulfur trains stopped for maintenance. When the manhole was removed, sulfur was found. Is this normal? ? ? The waste heat boiler has the most outlets. I wonder if there is a risk of fire in such a manhole during normal production? Can this be avoided? ?
It is normal to find sulfur when the sulfur recovery reactor is shut down near the manhole. When the device is operating normally, the reactor reacts under insufficient oxygen content, and a large amount of gaseous sulfur is generated in the furnace itself, so the sulfur will not catch fire.

This situation also occurs here. The main reason is that the manhole of the sulfur main combustion furnace was not heat-tightened after the construction started, and the gasket selected was not suitable. As for the fire, there is no need to worry too much. The spontaneous ignition point of sulfur is high and the temperature of the furnace wall is not that high.
