An empty chlorine tank weighs 500 kilograms; when it is filled with 1000 kilograms of liquid chlorine, what size crane is needed to lift such a tank? I chose a crane with a lifting capacity of 5 tons, but some people said that one with a capacity of 3 tons would be sufficient. I am following clause 8.1.3 on page 5 of the \"Safety Regulations for Chlorine Gas\" GB11984-2008, which states that the weight should be more than twice the weight of the heavy bottle. I think choosing 3 tons doesn’t quite meet the regulatory requirements. Everyone, please tell me if my choice is correct # hcbbs
The weight of an empty bottle is usually around 450 kg; adding the weight of liquid chlorine, a 3-ton crane will suffice, after all, the boss’s money counts too.
It’s possible, but in practical use, 5T is more commonly used as it provides a smoother operation.
This post was last edited by kpyuan916 on 2010-2-3 at 12:02. Choosing 3 tons is sufficient; the empty bottle weighs 450 KG, plus 1000 KG of liquid chlorine, and multiplying that by 2 still gives 3000 KG. So we will use 3 tons throughout.
A 3-ton model will suffice. The weight of the empty tank is 450 Kg; the weight after filling varies depending on the filling factor and is generally around 970 Kg (±5 Kg). Adding 10 Kg for the shock-absorbing rubber rings, as well as the copper valves and plugs for the two cylinders, keeps the total weight below 1500 Kg. Even according to the regulations, this should meet the requirements.
Why not 2 tons? My understanding is that it’s more than twice the weight of a heavy bottle
