I have a question for everyone: what exactly are the tasks involved in scheduling at chemical companies, and how is it carried out?
It gives me the impression that they don’t do any specific tasks, but just coordinate things. For example, if my workshop needs nitrogen right now, I report it to the dispatcher, who then informs the utility department; once I get the approval that it’s available, I can use it.
Scheduling is primarily about coordinating the rational allocation of resources such as water, electricity, and gas across various workshops, as well as organizing the operation modes in a way that ensures smooth production. It aims to achieve high productivity with low consumption and stable operation of the equipment. When problems arise during production, it involves mobilizing all available resources to address them, and collecting feedback from various sources to make appropriate improvements to production techniques.

I work as a scheduler at a very small polysilicon factory; I find the job rather boring, but the advantage is that it allows me to understand the entire process within our company! However, our company’s production technology is too outdated, so it lacks competitiveness. I don’t know if there are any acquaintances upstairs; if so, please don’t tell the boss, okay?:):). It’s probably still quite in demand for scheduling in other industries.
