Are there any design projects for activated carbon systems? Let’s discuss the current status of the activated carbon industry at home and abroad What are the development prospects for the activated carbon industry?
Current development status of China’s activated carbon industry: China’s activated carbon industry began to develop in the 1950s, and entered a phase of large-scale growth in the 1980s. The annual production volume increased from 15,000 tons to over 200,000 tons at present, surpassing that of the United States and ranking first in the world. However, our country is not yet a powerhouse in activated carbon production. According to incomplete statistics, there are currently over 300 activated carbon factories in China, but most of them have small production scales, weak technical capabilities, outdated processing equipment, and produce products of low quality. The products that make it onto the international market are mainly those with low added value. Although the demand for activated carbon is increasing at a rate of about 5% per year, export prices have been on a downward trend. The increase in export volumes coupled with the downward trend in prices reflects, on the one hand, an imbalance in the supply and demand of activated carbon; on the other hand, it indicates that there are still various shortcomings in China’s activated carbon industry compared to developed countries. In particular, improvements are needed in areas such as production technology, processing equipment, research and development capabilities, analysis and testing methods, product specifications and models, quality control systems, marketing strategies, and after-sales service systems.
Our company is engaged in the design of activated carbon projects. The market for activated carbon is currently very good, especially for use in wastewater treatment. It is also widely used in the steel industry to treat flue gases, and there is great potential for its further development

Due to the current environmental regulations and strict controls on organic emissions, the broad-spectrum adsorption capabilities of activated carbon have been fully utilized. Many chemical companies, after considering options for recycling and those involving activated carbon adsorption, have opted for the latter approach due to its lower initial investment cost, which in turn has created new business opportunities for manufacturers of activated carbon
This discussion topic is a bit too broad; it would be better to choose a more specific subject, such as the differences in the use of activated carbon and carbon fiber in adsorption systems, as well as the differences in the characteristics of the materials that can be adsorbed by each.
The activated carbon industry is relatively mature in general terms, especially in applications such as hydrogen and nitrogen production
I conducted a feasibility study many years ago and researched it in depth, but over the years the market has changed.
The prospects are very good, and policies will be even better in the coming years
