The advantages of replacing these quench water pumps with feed water pumps for the carbon scrubbing tower are as follows: 1. The outlet pressure of the feed water pump for the carbon scrubbing tower is higher than that of the quench water pump, resulting in a better atomization effect; 2. The flow rate requirement for the cooling water pump can be appropriately reduced ; 3. The solid content of the gray water at the outlet of the carbon scrubber feed pump is relatively low. What are the disadvantages? Why not adopt this approach?
1. The flow regulation capability of the quench water pump is greater than that of the wash tower feed water pump; when adjusting the water volume using a venturi, it may cause large fluctuations in the current of the wash tower feed water pump; 2. The pressure at the outlet of the wash tower feed pump is too high, and it does not change with the system pressure. At the beginning of feeding, this pressure is used to supply water to the venturi, which results in an excessive pressure difference within the venturi and causes significant damage to its internal components.
The wash tower feed water pump is a multi-stage centrifugal pump. Using it to supply water to the Venturi washer instead of the quench water pump does have the advantages mentioned by the original poster, but it also raises the technical requirements for such a pump, resulting in higher equipment costs. Secondly, as mentioned above, the outlet pressure of the feed pump for the scrubber tower is high and does not change with fluctuations in system pressure, which hinders the stability of the system; it may also affect the stable operation of this pump.
What maximum pressure can a scrubber tower handle?
Here, we have two separate pumps for cooling the water; one pump is used for the Venturi effect. The mutual influence between them should be minimal
From a technical perspective, there are no issues; it’s completely feasible.
