Question: For a 300,000-ton urea production plant, what should be the minimum volume of the liquid ammonia storage tank?
Two units of 500 cubic meters should be sufficient; it seems that the production volume of liquid ammonia is typically calculated over a period of two to three days. I’m not sure if that’s correct!
It is determined based on the number of days of storage required to cover the maximum designed load of the ammonia system. For a synthetic ammonia plant with an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons (producing mainly commercial ammonia, along with 300,000 tons of urea), two atmospheric-pressure ammonia tanks with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters each, along with one pressurized tank with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters, are designed for this purpose
