For a project involving a wastewater treatment facility designed to handle 250,000 tons of wastewater per year, the wastewater contains 0.8% toluene. Toluene is classified as a hazardous substance of Category A; although its concentration in the wastewater is low, the large volume of wastewater means that 2,000 tons of toluene are handled each year. In such a case, should the fire hazard classification for the facility be set at Category A? ?
No, the area where the recovered toluene is stored is designed as a Class A area
The recovery device should be designed as a Class A device, right? After all, the toluene concentration in your recovery tank is still quite high!
It is reasonable to impose separate requirements on areas with high risk; there is no need to increase the overall risk level of the entire device
