What is the corrosivity of pure methanol? How is corrosion protection typically applied to storage tanks?
Pure methanol corrodes lead and aluminum, but hardly affects other metals at all! But the impurities in methanol can corrode the equipment! Apply passivation to the storage tank, or consider using a ceramic lining!

Pipelines generally require no treatment, while storage tanks usually only need to be cleaned and passivated. I don’t quite agree with the claim about aluminum corrosion, as there are usually aluminum floating discs inside the storage tanks
