Hello everyone, may I ask if circulating water can be used as the cooling water for the shaft seal of the boiler feed pump? What are the requirements regarding the water quality?
Fresh water is sufficient; additionally, since the amount of water is small, recycling it is not considered necessary.

Based on our long-term operation experience, using circulating water as the cooling medium for the boiler feed pump (46 cubic meters per hour) fully meets the operational requirements, as the quality of this circulating water is already suitable for use as a coolant in acid treatment systems, condensers, and oil coolers, and it meets the required standards. Recovery was not carried out due to low water volume and economic considerations.
Circulating water can be used. The pump cooling water in our equipment uses recycled water. Using fresh water is too wasteful, and preventing freezing in winter is also a problem.

We use multi-stage pumps and no cooling water is required
Loops are basically not needed, because if loops are used, another pump would have to be employed to pump the fluid into the high-level tank, which is even more wasteful in terms of energy!
If water conservation, emission reduction, or cost factors are a concern, using recycled water is fine; of course, it’s better not to use fresh water at all
