Which hydrogen sulfide online detection device is currently being used with success?
Without specifying the sample conditions and process parameters, there is no definite answer to this question. The measurement methods for hydrogen sulfide in natural gas are completely different from those for hydrogen sulfide in air. The testing methods and instruments for high concentrations and low concentrations can be completely different. The methods for determining trace hydrogen sulfide in high-purity hydrogen are also completely different from those used for measuring hydrogen sulfide in sulfur recovery processes. When asking questions, it is important to phrase them clearly, using precise language that is appropriate for the field.
I have previously integrated the Galvanic 903 H2S analyzers for several factories; some of them were used in desulfurization units and others in gasoline hydroprocessing units. I’m not sure if this meets your requirements, but here is a detailed description. I. Working principle and technical description of the Canadian Galvanic 903 H2S analyzer: Hydrogen sulfide in the process gas is measured using lead acetate test strips. The principle behind this is that only hydrogen sulfide reacts with lead acetate, causing the test strips to turn brown. The hydrogen sulfide content is directly proportional to the color change in the lead acetate paper strip. This principle is the basis of many ASTM methods. To date, this is the most reliable and accurate method for measuring hydrogen sulfide in process gas. H2S + Pb = PbS + H2O; over a certain period of time, the instrument moves a strip of paper. Depending on the content of the sample, the rate at which the color of the paper tape darkens is proportional to the hydrogen sulfide content in the process gas. Every 3–4 minutes, the analyzer feeds in a new test strip into the sample gas chamber. II. Basic parameters: Repeatability: ±1% of the scale range; Measurement range: 0–2000 PPm to 0–100%; Calibration range: 0–200 ppm (W); Linearity: ±1% of the scale range; Response time: 10 seconds (20 seconds for low PPm ranges); Ambient temperature: 0–50°C; Analog signal: Isolated 4–20 mA; Digital communication: RS 232, Modbus 485; Power supply: 24VDC, 10 Watts; Explosion protection certification: CEC Class I, Division II, Groups B, C & D
Our factory wants to conduct online monitoring of the hydrogen sulfide content in coke oven gas, which is around 2 g/cubic meter. We’re not sure what kind of instrument would be suitable; we hope experts can recommend one, haha.
If only the hydrogen sulfide gas concentration is to be measured, a hydrogen sulfide gas alarm is the preferred choice.
2g – why is such a high level of gas needed?
