Dear seniors: What is the formula for calculating the net positive suction head of a pump? Is the net positive suction head of the pump that must be specified in the pump data sheet the effective net positive suction head?
This needs to be determined through experimentation; detailed information can be found in the chapter on centrifugal pumps in the Principles of Chemical Engineering.
Generally, a sufficient net positive suction head is required; you can refer to the pump documentation under the section on net positive suction head
