Why are the rotation speeds of small pumps generally designed to be 1480 RPM or 2950 RPM? Is it to keep its rotational speed below the resonance point of the rigid shaft?
This is because the electrical frequency in China is 50HZ; small pumps are generally driven by motors, and their rotational speed at 380V or 6000V corresponds to their rated speed. To avoid the need for speed regulation or frequency conversion, the rotational speed of these pumps remains constant. That’s roughly what it means; I’d appreciate your advice.
What was said on the 2nd floor makes some sense, but common sense tells us that the rotation speed of a motor generally does not exceed 3000 revolutions per minute; it should be related to the current frequency.
Additional note: The frequency of 50HZ for the motor mentioned earlier refers to China’s power grid; the frequency of alternating current in China is 50HZ, while it is 60HZ in most foreign countries. When it comes to motors alone, this is not absolute; some of the domestically produced motors exported are designed in accordance with the needs of foreign customers. Imported original motors, unless otherwise specified, are not designed for China’s power frequency; a frequency converter is required to use them.
The speed of the motor is determined by the frequency of the alternating current and the number of turns in the motor’s squirrel-cage, and it is generally approximately equal to a multiple of the alternating current frequency.
That makes sense; turbine-driven systems can reach over 3,000 revolutions per minute, while gas turbine systems can reach over 10,000 revolutions per minute
