There are various methods for controlling the temperature of liquid after liquid cooling; in my opinion, the best approach is air cooling combined with variable frequency control. A circulation water control valve can be used or not. This reduces both power consumption and the amount of water used in circulation.
This post was last edited by Qianxiafeng on 2010-5-31 at 16:40. Our factory only installs gate valves; when the water cooler is needed, it is simply turned on for use. Previously, we also had air coolers, which were completely turned off when not in use. I personally think it’s a good idea to add a control valve, as it would allow the water flow to be adjusted according to the temperature. However, from an engineering perspective, the savings resulting from this approach are minimal; theoretically, it’s a good idea though.
If there are no strict requirements regarding temperature (in other words, the temperature can vary within a certain range), it is not necessary to use a control valve; an inlet valve or an outlet valve is sufficient for regulation.
Our plant uses butterfly valves; the inlet is kept fully open, while the outlet is adjusted to a certain degree depending on the temperature of the lean liquid entering the tower. Then, a bypass control valve is used to regulate the amount of lean liquid passing through the heat exchanger, thereby controlling the temperature of the lean liquid.
It depends on the temperature conditions; water volume adjustment should be taken into account. Replacing the gate valve with a globe valve should suffice.
